Fantastic Fanning

Fantastic Fanning

Last night I had the privilege of attending a screening of Hounddog in Hollywood. Dakota Fanning and the director Deborah Kampmeier were in attendance. I am saddened that this film has been met with so much opposition from people who have not even seen it.

It was clear to me that Deborah wrote this project straight from her heart. When nerves are touched, I think people forget that filming is a very technical process. The controversial scene was shot from the shoulders up. The director pointed out that nobody ever walks out of an action film saying,”Oh my God, did they really blow that actor’s head off!?!”

I love Dakota Fanning’s work. It is unjust that all the heart, soul, and vulnerability she poured into this film was reciprocated with judgements about her family and death threats.

I hope that no matter what personal wounds people carry around, they can be tolerant of others who are brave enough to shed light on gritty subjects. Had the protesters seen the film, they would have seen a very tastefully shot, sensitive, and sobering work of art. To learn more visit www.hounddogmovie.com
