I’m so grateful to have booked a nice array of jobs all of which were not Asian specific! I start work on the sitcom Girlfriends this Monday. Suzanne Goddard-Smythe, is just about as sweet as casting directors come. I asked if she needed my picture and she said, “No, I saved the one you gave me last year when I met you on “Me, Me, Me.” (a sitcom pilot) I think you are just wonderful!” I had no idea. During my audition the producers laughed as if I were the funniest person they’d seen. (Clearly, THEY were the best actors in the room!) The great thing is that Suzanne treated all of the actors auditioning with the same enthusiasm and warmth. When you are given these kind of gifts in a casting session its pretty hard to fail. My agent called me with an offer, but it wasn’t for the guest star (Denise) I had read for. Turns out that character was cut, so they found another part for me.

After the Girlfriends audition I went in for a Saab commercial at Kathy Knowles Casting. I had been waiting for 45 minutes when a pushy woman arrived and told the session runner that she needed to go in front of me. Proper etiquette would have been for her to ask me if I wouldn’t mind letting her go in my place. I would have said yes, but it was her entitlement that really bothered me. I waited another 20 minutes for her to finish, and then let go of the negativity for my audition. I left the casting office somewhere around 5 pm… just in time to enjoy 2 hrs. in traffic. To make up for it, I ended up booking the part and working with some super nice people. Karma!

I did a modeling job last weekend- where my legs were referred to as , “getaway sticks.” Never heard that expression before! Quite fitting as I’m constantly running to escape one audition and make it on time to the next. This time of year is full of activity and I love it! I’ve been working really hard, and exploring all sorts of great roles. What’s cool is that my friends are all doing really well. Janell and Hans just bought a house, Tina found her wedding dress, and my godparents booked their first print ad in SF. I just know this is going to be a great year for all of us.
